HOWELL - Sherry Dingman arrived home from work Tuesday morning and encountered a car crash closing several streets in front of her Howell home.

It wasn't a real crash; rather, the crash was staged for the independent film "High School" and set up within spitting distance of Dingman's home at the corner of Lincoln and Sibley streets.

The crash was staged at the intersection of Sibley and Jewett streets south of Grand River Avenue.

Dingman returned from her shift at the Genoa Township Wal-Mart at 8 a.m.

"I kind of snuck in, but it's exciting," she said.

Dingman and dozens of her neighbors and others surrounded the shoot, which was set up early Tuesday and was expected to last until sundown.

The location was selected Saturday, and "High School" location manager Jimi Woods and his team spent all day Monday informing residents of the shoot.

The roughly 30-second scene involves a T-bone crash between a yellow car and red van at a four-way stop. The character of Psycho Ed, the drug dealer in the stoner film, and his gang are in the red van. Psycho Ed is played by Academy Award winner Adrien Brody.

In the shoot, a dummy was set up in the car, and stunt doubles in the van, Woods said.

Dialogue was filmed after the crash.

Other scenes were shot Tuesday at the Howell Public Schools Parker Campus in Marion Township, a few miles south of downtown Howell.
